Civil Engineer:  AES Services, Inc., Chicago, IL

AES Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineer for our Chicago office to perform design engineering and plan production for a variety of transportation related projects with minimal direction. Candidates should have an understanding of local client standards and specifications to coordinate preparation of design details, plans and drawings, as well as develop quantities and cost estimates. The successful candidate will work closely with the senior staff to obtain technical knowledge and experience for continued professional growth.

 

Responsibilities for this position include conducting technical analyses and design related to:

 

  • ​PS&E for roadway design

  • Provide design efforts that adhere to quality, budget and schedule requirements

  • Assist with supervision, scheduling and checking work of project team members

  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects

  • Communicate with clients regarding project issues, and attends meetings as required

  • Adhere to QA/QC procedures on all projects 

 

Basic Qualifications

 

Required:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program

  • 5-10 years of civil engineering experience

  • Engineer-in-Training License

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Experience with civil design software, specifically Microstation, AutoCAD and Geopak

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs

 

Preferred:

 

  • P.E. in Illinois

  • Experience working on IDOT, Illinois Tollway and/or City of Chicago projects and knowledge of design standards

 
 

Transportation/Traffic Engineer:  AES Services, Inc., Chicago, IL

AES Services, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Traffic Engineer (0-3 years of experience) for our Chicago office to work on exciting multimodal projects that require sound engineering judgment, independent evaluation, successful adaption of industry standards and procedures, and developing consensus on solutions with the project team and clients. The successful candidate will work closely with the senior staff to obtain technical knowledge and experience for continued professional growth.

 

Responsibilities for this position include conducting technical analyses and design related to:

  • Freeway and corridor operational evaluation using state-of-the-art software

  • Signal timing and optimization studies and signal design

  • Traffic impact studies

  • Safety studies

  • Planning and forecasting

  • Transit and non-motorized studies

  • PS&E for roadway design

  • Technical writing

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering from an accredited program

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel

  • Basic familiarity with MUTCD, AASHTO geometric design, Highway Capacity Manual, Highway Safety Manual, Trip Generation, and Urban Design Guidelines

  • Knowledge of discipline-specific software including Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, VISSIM, and MicroStation

  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam

 

 

 

Survey Technician/Draftsperson:  AES Services, Inc., West Chicago, IL

AES Services, Inc. is seeking a Survey Technician/Draftsperson with 5-10 of Surveying AutoCAD experience for our West Chicago office. This position requires a full understanding of survey document preparation.

 

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Process field data and complete final survey drawings for private sector clients as well as government agencies

  • Full understanding of survey document preparation such as ALTA, Topographic, Boundary Surveys and Plats of Survey

  • Assist Professional Land Surveyors and Project Managers in completing assigned tasks as well as QA/QC procedures

  • Organize and maintain project folders and associated drawings and documentation related to assigned projects

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MicroStation and Geopak experience required

  • AutoCAD and Carlson software is a plus

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Knowledge of IDOT CADD Standards as well as field to finish
